I have never been a physically fit person, and I don't ever plan on becoming an athlete or bodybuilder. But over the summer during quarantine, I reflected on my current physical state and was unhappy with where I currently was.

I was quite fat and I certainly lacked lots of muscle. To improve my physical fitness, I decided to commit to exercising each day since school started until physical school reopened, when I would the re-evaluate the viability of exercising each day (as it may cause time-management issues). After consulting with a friend, I decided to choose this workout program from Youtube to follow, and at the start of the 2020-2021 school year, I am currently able to complete the 'advanced' level (involving doing each exercise for 25 seconds with a 5 second rest) 3 times. I am continuing my program and hope to improve my physical fitness even more, and I will be recording the results of that here.

After two weeks since my last recording, I have managed to push myself to be able to complete 2 sets of each exercise for 30 seconds (going past 'advanced') and then completing each one for 25 seconds for the final set. Although I had to decrease the intensity for one day as I had a very bad stomach, I believe I can increase the level of intensity each day until I am able to complete each 3 sets of each exercise for 30 seconds.

This week, I tried to push myself to complete 3 sets of each exercise for 30 seconds. However, I ran into several physical difficulties, losing strength in my muscles while attempting the final set of the exercise during some days of the week. Ultimately, however, I was able to complete the first third of the third set for 30 seconds, and next week I hope to push myself further and complete all 3 sets for 30 seconds.

Adapting

It has been a while since I've last recorded an entry here, but I've still managed to exercise everyday in the time period. I've managed to eliminate all rests in between each exercise, going for 18 minutes straight, and I've added some core exercises to the end as I feel the program is getting a little too easy. I hope to push myself further and complete two repetitions of each core exercise, and then we'll see what's next!

Even though it has been over 4 months since I started this program, I am still going, and have managed to complete the entire 3 sets with the core exercises in between them. I hope to push myself further and am considering my options, such as getting a weights set, but one thing I aspire to do is to be able to do a handstand. Currently, I lack the physical strength to hold myself up for long periods of time, so I want to train to have the balance and strength to hold a freestanding handstand for 15 seconds. Hopefully this will also make other parts of me stronger along the way!

Over January, I have tried to lose 5 kg and as the month is coming to a close, I think I have been relatively successful at achieving this ambitious goal. In addition to ramping up my daily exercise, I also tried eating less and chewing more when I ate. Both of these things really contributed to my weight loss and I have managed to lose 4 kg. However, there were some days where I severely underate and felt sick or had bad nights of sleep, so this also taught me about my limits and that it isn't healthy for me to restrict my food intake too much. Instead, balancing out a decrease across meals is more feasible than not eating in one meal. I will try to complete my goal in the coming week and afterwards hope to buy some weights and develop my muscles more so I can eat more! My diet is definitely not sustainable and I want to get back to eating carbs!
