Golf Fore Kids Foundation is a peer mentoring program between Manila Golf junior golfers and high school children who have expressed their need for financial support towards their education.
As one of the founders, I am glad to share that we have had three successful golf tournaments since 2018, for the benefit of the MGC Caddie High School Fund.
We meet regularly with the HS students in our program to give them a platform between peers to talk about how they are doing in school, discuss any difficulties, realize their interests and talents, and work out a plan of action on how they can reach their full potential.
Through the funds raised from our golf tournaments, we are able to provide quarterly stipends to the students, which help support needs for their schooling.
We are elated to have a program member move up to University last 2020, with a full scholarship grant from Far Eastern University for an Architecture. She is a first generation university student from her family.
This year we have 3 program members graduating from high school and pursuing degrees in culinary, marketing and seafaring. Yet another 7 junior high schoolers are approaching their final year of high school. Over the quarantine, it was also good to know that they have been active, with activities ranging from helping out at home to constructing of a new house.
We are extremely excited for their achievements and we hope to unlock new opportunities for them. As they progress to a brighter career path, they feel empowered to fulfill their dreams and be able to give back to their own families and communities.

PEER VOICE
As a peer mentor, I try to engage the students in our program to have accountability with their school performance. We talk about which areas they are doing well and where they are having difficulty.
As a teen, I can relate with how having other people concerned about me, aside from parents, helps me in understanding myself, and grow in confidence with myself.
